Today we rented a boat and went water skiing on Lake Mead, which was a lot of fun.  I haven’t driven a boat since we had to leave Florida, I forgot how much fun it is motoring around.  Sadly, I couldn’t swim deeper than about fifteen feet today without feeling as though my sinuses were about to jump out of my forehead!

We drove the boat over to the Hoover Dam, where the bypass project is in full swing.  You can see the webcam of the project here.  Basically, they’re building a huge bridge OVER the Hoover Dam, which will hopefully clear up the congestion getting across the dam.  If you’ve never driven across the Hoover Dam, it’s kind of like trying to drive through Disney World – the ability to skip this little tourist attraction will likely start to open up the area on the other side of the dam for development.  Every time I come to the Las Vegas area there are at least two or three new roads/interchanges that have been built, and at least another development in the works.  According to this website, it’s the 11th fastest growing city in the United States.  I once thought I wanted to live here, but after being ridiculously hot and thirsty for the past few days, I’m starting to think there is a better climate yet for me.
