I like marking the passage of time, when I was a kid I would love putting an "x" on the calendar at the end of each day... I think it's a myth, just like Santa. It's just a mark placed on an arbitrary location on the Earth's orbit around the Sun. But I do not want to interfere with anyone's beliefs. :) I have no problems going to bed at 11pm on December 31th (local time, that is), but in recent years I conformed with society and stayed up until after midnight. I'm glad you get along so well with your roomie so far. That's something that you can never really know in advance. After reading your list of interesting things that happened, I concluded he has been lucky.
