Well the new WoW patch came out on Tuesday, and I installed it in a little under 30 minutes. However, when I logged in, I didn’t realize I had to retalent (n00b) and the game kept resetting/kicking me, so I gave up. Last night I finally got in, respecced my lvl68 warlock to Demonology (probably wasting a lot of points, but whatever) and improved CoA/Corruption/LT (it really doesn’t matter since I’m going full Affliction once I hit 70) and decided to do a PUG of Mana Tombs. We kicked major ass – it was me, another lvl 68 lock (affliction), a lvl 64 lock (destro, wtf?), a druid (healing) and a lvl 70 warrior who whispered me “whatever, I’m bored, I’ll tank” so I invited him. The amount of damage was unbelievable – I wish I had swstats enabled, but most of my add-ons were not working (I upgraded Cartographer and QuestHelper much to Ploman’s chagrin, but whatever, I can’t be wowheading every quest when I’m trying to speed through to 70). Unfortunately, right as we started the next instance, I got logged, and couldn’t get back in. Argh! I got half a level of XP from MT, though…pretty sweet.
My best friend/platonic wife, Catherine, has been harassed by multiple people to get on the WoW bandwagon. I offered to buy/install a copy for her last time I visited, but she said she was too busy. I guess a few days ago she decided to use the 10-day trial I sent her with refer-a-friend, and started up a human priest — because “she’s so pretty.” She absolutely does not want to play Horde, despite me trying to explain she could roll a belf priest who would be just as – if not more – pretty as her little human priest. She then was forced to actually download the game, because with the patch coming out, the streaming trial version stopped working for her. Also, she didn’t understand why she had to kill mobs – she wanted to just get XP exploring the game world. So it is my duty to 1. get her on Burning Blade as a belf priest, 2. make sure she signs up with refer-a-friend so we can get triple XP, thus leveling 3 times as fast and skipping so much mob grinding, 3. roll another alt with her (something that does massive damage initially, like a pally or shaman) until she hits level 20, then dual box my shadow priest/fire mage combo with her holy priest and really tear through the game.
Of course, I have to hit level 70 on my lock by the end of this weekend or Ploman will have a hissie fit – we are planning on going 70-80 together.
